Ext 2.0 public beta available

One of the worlds best javascript libraries has even become better: Ext.

When we (at Innovation Gate) started to develop the new authoring UI for our content management system WebGate Anywhere we decided to implement a desktop like UI. We tested some of the most popular open source JS-Libraries among them prototype.js, script.aculo.us, Yahoo's YUI, Dojo and last but not leased Ext.

We found that Ext had the most ready to use and ready designed widgets and layout features we needed to implement our "desktop like looking" webproject:
  • Collapsable pannels (border layout)
  • Tree Views and Grid-Views
  • Modal dialogs
  • Menus, Toolbars
What probably is even more important is that the source code of ext is very well structured and readable and can be used as an addition to the very well documented library.

And now Ext 2.0 adds impressive new features like window layouts, collapsable groups in grid views and more.

If you what to get a first quick impression of what ext can offer, just check the documentation website that itself is an impressive web application developed with the help of ext.
